Medication-Assisted Treatment
Silver Maple Recovery offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as an evidence-based supplement to treatment, and as an effective method of increasing sobriety rates for our clients.
When assessed to be appropriate for our clients, our certified addiction medicine physicians will prescribe appropriate medication. Nursing staff monitor the medications’ effectiveness on clients and dosages are tapered down as a client progresses through treatment.
About Medication-Assisted Treatment
MAT is a pharmacotherapy for opiate addiction which has been shown to decrease mortality rates, relapse, and incarceration rates in opiate-dependent individuals.
This modality utilizes medically managed FDA-approved medications to support opiate-dependent individuals in the recovery process. Our addiction certified physicians guide clients through decision-making regarding MAT, develop a treatment regimen and closely monitor progress. All MAT programming is facilitated within a structured therapy program, such as residential or outpatient services. Silver Maple Recovery’s full continuum of care allows physicians and clinical team to effectively utilize MAT for a client across multiple levels of care.
Substance abuse, addiction, and trauma have a complex relationship that can complicate treatment interventions. High levels of stress can make it more likely for a person to turn to drugs or alcohol as a means of coping.
What is Trauma?
Trauma is described as the psychological and emotional response to an event or series of events that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening that has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning. There are many forms of trauma with varying degrees of severity. Each has the ability to impact functioning, well-being and response to treatment. The most notable and extreme trauma response is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but other forms of trauma can also impact quality of life.
Silver Maple Recovery employs professional clinicians who are trained in a trauma-informed approach to care. Upon admission, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment that screens for history of trauma. Treatment plans are then developed that include individual counseling and group work specific to the impact of trauma on addiction and recovery.
The trained professionals at Silver Maple Recovery can help individuals develop coping techniques through the use of evidence-based and trauma-focused therapy that is highly flexible and beneficial in treating co-occurring addiction and trauma. All trauma work is facilitated in either individual counseling or within gender specific groups.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy based on the cognitive model which asserts that the way that individuals perceive a situation is more closely connected to their reaction than the situation itself.
Silver Maple Recovery’s team of chemical dependency counselors and therapists use CBT to teach clients skills to modify dysfunctional thinking and behavior.
Benefits of a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program
Silver Maple Recovery’s clinical team use individual and group CBT interventions to help clients change their negative thinking and behavior in order to promote improvement in their mood and functioning.
During a course of CBT, Silver Maple Recovery’s clients learn to:
